How Do I Become a Dozer Operator

If you’re interested in becoming a dozer operator, you could be choosing an exciting, challenging, and rewarding career. If you’ve never operated heavy equipment before, you might be wondering: where do you even begin?

Train

In order to become a dozer operator, you first need to undergo thorough training to prepare you for the demands of this important job. While it is possible to get on-the-job training, many companies want you to come equipped with skills and safety knowledge before you apply. A vocational training program, like the one West Coast Training offers, is the perfect way to set yourself apart from the competition.

So what can you expect when you enroll in one of our training programs? Well, our programs last four to eight weeks and we guarantee that you’ll get a mix of in-classroom instruction and practical, hands-on training. We also offer small class sizes and personalized attention to guarantee our students the best possible experience.

If you want to become a dozer operator, our eight-week heavy equipment operator program will provide you all the training you need to embark on this new career. Our program is capped at 12 students to keep class size small and ensure you have plenty of hands-on time with each piece of heavy construction equipment, including dozers.

Test

Once you have the skills you need, it’s time to get certified! Since West Coast Training is an accredited organization of the National Center for Construction Education & Research, we are able to provide the necessary examinations on site, as part of the training program.

Upon successful completion of our heavy equipment operator program and a knowledge assessment testing your skills, you will receive credentials from the NCCER. Your knowledge assessment results will also be recorded in the NCCER registry.

Apply

After you’ve completed your training and obtained your certification, it’s time to apply for a job! We provide you all the support you need during your job hunt so you don’t have to go at it alone.

Since we’re committed to making sure you have a successful career after you graduate from our program, we provide graduate employment services that include resume preparation, interview practice, and job search guidance. Our credentials are also nationally recognized, meaning West Coast Training graduates qualify for employment nationwide.

If you find a great job but decide after a few years that you want to relocate, for instance, we can help you find the right fit wherever you’re headed next. In fact, we offer lifetime graduate employment services so regardless of when you graduated our program, you can still contact us for support and assistance.
