OSHA HAZWOPER Training

HAZWOPER 120 Certifications used to be offered ONLY as a component of our CETOPS HEO Graduate Course. Now this hazardous materials handling class is a stand-alone option. Like other courses, this certification training is easy to follow and informative while meeting the direct demands of workers within the construction industry.

The Importance of Certification

Any project that requires contact with hazardous materials is governed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA guidelines give companies rules and regulations that keep workers protected and allow for effective job sites to service a variety of needs. Our Hazardous Materials Incident Response Operations course (EPA 165.5) offers hands-on exercises and classroom instruction that covers a variety of subjects including:

  • Hazard Certification
  • Chemical Hazards
  • Radiation Hazards
  • Health Hazards
  • Medical Surveillance
  • Monitoring Instruments
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Site Layout and Decontamination
  • Temperature Hazards
  • Confined Space Hazards
  • Spill Control
  • Site Safety Plans

The course has no prerequisites. Completion will enhance employment opportunities and could improve current standing within an established job.

Time Commitment

This 40-hour certification is obtained in one week’s time. Graduates receive a certification card that proves proficiency in OSHA and EPA standards for safety, health, and environmental personnel, as well as heavy equipment operators, technicians, and others involved with the remediation and handling of hazardous waste.

“My advice to someone thinking about going back to learn heavy equipment or cranes is: be prepared to get the most out of it. You have access to lots of different equipment and the instructors know what they're doing. You just have to ask questions and make use of every minute you’re there.”
